If you have any additional questions about PTR1's recording function, please contact Plextor directly at 800-886-3935 or support@plextalk.com
1. I've tried to turn the PTR1 on and nothing happens, or I've pressed PLAY and nothing happens, even though the machine is powered on.
Check that the power cord is securely plugged into the wall and into the machine.
If using the PTR1 with the battery only, you may need to recharge the battery. The battery loses power when it is not connected to an electrical outlet. Even if the battery has not been used, it may be necessary to recharge the battery if it hasn't been connected to an electrical outlet. If the battery continues to lose power after it has been charged, it may be at the end of its life.
Make sure the CD is loaded before pressing PLAY. When the CD is loaded correctly, and you have entered the correct RFB&D® PIN, you will hear the title.
Make sure the CD is placed in the CD-ROM drive with the label-side facing up.
Make sure the VOLUME and the GUIDE VOLUME are turned up.
2. When I insert a CD, I hear a "Improper or damaged disc" message or "no disc" message.
Remove the disc and reinsert it, making sure the label side is facing up.
Remove the disc and clean it with a soft cloth.
When the CD is loaded properly, you will hear the title.
If none of the above work, the disc may be damaged. Contact RFB&D promptly.
3. I can't insert the CD.
Check that the PTR1 is turned on.
Check that the power cord is plugged securely into the wall and into the machine.
Press play to see if a CD is already inserted.
f using the PTR1 with the battery only, you may need to recharge the battery.
4. When I enter a page number on the keypad, I hear a "Page doesn't exist" message, or when I enter a page number on the keypad, the location it foes to is off by a page or two.
If possible, check the print copy of the book to determine if the page exists in the book.
Make sure the RFB&D AudioPlus® CD is the same edition and copyright year as the print book you are using. If not, follow the PTR1 manual's instructions for searching by chapter or section, or page forward and backward manually.
Some of RFB&D's AudioPlus books that were converted from the original analog recording may be using missing "markers" or some pages. This makes it impossible to jump directly to that page, but it doesn't mean that the page wasn't recorded. Enter the next page number and push PLAY. Then press the BACK key until you find the beginning of the desired page by listening for the reader's page announcement.
If you are still having difficulty using RFB&D's AudioPlus books on CD, please call RFB&D's (National Headquarters) product support at 800-221-4792.
If you need assistance with the PTR1's functions other than playback, such as recording or organizer use, please contact Pextor's technical support at 800-886-3935 or by e-mail at support@plextalk.com|.
