What are RFB&D's National Achievement Awards?
Since 1959, RFB&D has recognized college seniors who are blind for their extraordinary leadership, scholarship, enterprise and service to others. In 1990, the awards were renamed the Mary P. Oenslager Scholastic Achievement Awards to reflect the generosity of their late founder, who endowed the program with a gift of $1 million.
The Marion Huber Learning Through Listening ® awards, the first national awards presented to high school seniors with learning disabilities, are also given to recognize extraordinary leadership, scholarship, enterprise and service to others. These awards were established in 1992 to continue in perpetuity by a gift from the late Marion Huber, a longtime RFB&D donor.

What is RFB&D's Enabling America Award?
The Enabling America Award is presented annually to individuals or organizations that contribute significantly to the advancement of educational and career opportunities for people with disabilities.

Educational outreach efforts are now bringing RFB&D's Learning Through Listening program into schools throughout New Jersey, especially in under-resourced districts. The educational outreach program provides teachers and students with research-based Learning Through Listening strategies, enabling them to maximize the benefits of auditory learning. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, RFB&D has no guaranteed sources of income. Only 12% of the New Jersey Unit's work is funded through government grants.
